Pharmacy and Prescriptions
Where will my medications be sent?
Orders are routed via secure e-prescribing to your chosen pharmacy. As an outpatient clinic, The Healed Mind Psychiatry does not stock or dispense medicines at our physical office for safety reasons.
Can I pick up my prescription at the office?
No. Refills are exclusively sent digitally. Do not visit our clinic site for medication collection. Fulfillment and stock status must be managed directly with your pharmacy personnel.
What if my prescription is missing at the pharmacy?
Verify with the pharmacist that your electronic prescription was received. They handle inventory and insurance records. If clinical clarification is necessary, message us through the portal with the pharmacy's specific request for our team.
What if my medication is out of stock?
Consult your pharmacist about local availability. If a different dose or location is required due to supply issues, notify our office through the portal with the exact medication name and the new pharmacy's details immediately.
How are prior authorizations handled?
Insurers often require pre-approval for specific drugs. While we submit the clinical evidence, the final decision remains with your insurance carrier. Our providers cannot guarantee that your plan will approve or cover the costs.
Can you guarantee when my script will be filled?
No. Pick-up times are dictated by pharmacy staffing, inventory levels, and insurance processing. Sending a digital script does not mean it is immediately ready. Always call your pharmacy before arriving.
How are refill requests handled?Â
Submit refill requests via the secure portal or have your pharmacy send a digital request. We handle these during office hours only; we do not provide emergency weekend refills.
Â
Controlled substances require strict clinical oversight and routine follow-ups before renewal. We recommend requesting refills five business days early. Note that controlled medications will only be released by the pharmacist on the legally mandated date, even if requested early.
ADHD and Stimulant Care
Are physical office visits required for ADHD care?
Yes. Under current medical regulations, patients prescribed stimulants must attend a face-to-face clinical evaluation per clinic policy. More frequent in-person exams may be required per provider discretion.
Do you prescribe stimulants for ADHD?
Stimulants are considered only after a thorough evaluation and agreement with practice safety protocols. A diagnosis is not a guarantee of a specific prescription.
Is diagnostic testing necessary?
Care plans rely on clinical data. We may require formal neuro-testing or prior medical records before beginning stimulant therapy. More details are on our Policy page.
How is medication monitored?
Mandatory monitoring includes checking vital signs, reviewing state databases, and potential drug screenings or labs to ensure patient safety.
How often are follow-ups needed?
Stimulant management typically requires monthly appointments to track safety and efficacy. These sessions include in-person requirements to remain compliant with Texas state laws and federal guidelines regarding controlled substances.
Insurance and Billing
Which insurance plans do you accept?
We are in-network with several commercial carriers, including:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- UMR
- Cigna
- Aetna
- TRICARE West
- Humana
- UnitedHealthcare
- Optum
- Oscar Health
- Curative
Note: We no longer accept Molina. Being with a listed carrier does not guarantee coverage for your specific tier. Please verify benefits with your insurer.
Why is my bill higher than expected?
Costs depend on your plan. If your deductible isn't met, you are responsible for the contracted rate. Co-insurance also impacts totals. Contact your insurer for disputes.
What is a deductible?
This is the amount you pay out-of-pocket before insurance helps. You pay the provider's allowed rate until this cap is met.
Can I get a coverage guarantee?
Benefit quotes are estimates, not promises. The insurer determines final responsibility after the claim is filed.
What payment methods are used?
We accept major credit cards and cash for patient fees and self-pay balances.
Do you offer self-pay options?
Yes. We offer self-pay rates for those without insurance or with out-of-network plans. Please check our fee schedule before your visit.
Telehealth
How do I join my virtual session?
A secure link will be sent before your time. You must be in a private, quiet New Mexico location with a working camera, mic, and stable web connection. For technical trouble, contact us via the portal for help during business hours.
Is the telehealth platform secure?
We use HIPAA-compliant tools to protect your data. Patients must ensure their own connection is private. While we use encryption, absolute digital security can never be 100% promised.
Can stimulants be prescribed via telehealth?
Controlled substances are not managed via telehealth-only care. Patients must have an in-person physical exam at our clinic within the last 12 months for telehealth refills to be considered for clinical appropriateness.
Urgent and Crisis Care
What steps should I take during a crisis?
If you are in immediate danger or might harm yourself or others, call 911 or head to the nearest emergency room now.
For 24/7 mental health support or suicidal thoughts, call or text 988 for the Crisis Lifeline.
The Healed Mind Psychiatry is a scheduled outpatient provider and is not a crisis facility. Do not use the portal or leave messages for emergencies.
Do you offer emergency or after-hours support?
No. Our practice focus is scheduled outpatient care and does not offer emergency intervention services.
Limited evening slots are for routine care only. In a mental health crisis, call or text 988. If you cannot ensure your own safety, call 911 or visit the ER immediately.
Standard communication channels like the patient portal or office email are not monitored for urgent medical needs or active psychiatric crises.
